Madrid, Jaén, Canary Islands, 02/05/2025. – The Dentist Smart Data Assistant project will modernize dental practice through the development of an advanced diagnostic platform that integrates artificial intelligence (AI), generative artificial intelligence (GAI), and blockchain technology, revolutionizing the way dental professionals manage information and make clinical decisions.
This project, driven by Alastria, The Cherry Health, Protección Digital, and the Canary Islands Excellence Technology Cluster, aims to improve diagnostic accuracy and facilitate access to updated and secure information, overcoming current challenges in the dental sector, such as fragmented information, unequal access to advanced technology, and data security risks in clinical data management.
Thanks to this digital platform, dentists will be able to compare diagnoses, treatments, and diseases of their patients with millions of similar cases worldwide. They will analyze all available data using AI algorithms, suggesting the best treatments based on real and verified information. By incorporating blockchain technology, the platform ensures data integrity and secure, reliable, and distributed access.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism through the support program for Innovative Business Clusters (AEIs) in its 2024 call, within the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan framework, contributing to improving the competitiveness of the Spanish industry.
A Digital Solution to Address Dentistry Challenges
The project arises from the urgent need to modernize dentistry by addressing key challenges such as outdated and fragmented information. Clinical data is scattered across multiple sources and formats, making efficient integration and analysis difficult. Additionally, clinical data management often faces security and confidentiality risks, leading clinics to make significant investments to have robust systems that protect patients’ information.
Moreover, the project provides a solution to information access inequality, as not all dentists have the same opportunities to stay updated with the latest advances and studies. Many dental clinics, especially smaller ones, lack advanced tools and technologies to make more accurate diagnoses.
Benefits for Professionals and Patients
Dentist Smart Data Assistant will enable dentists to offer more precise and efficient diagnoses by comparing their cases with millions of similar ones. At the same time, they will have equal access to advanced technology, as the platform will be available to all dentists, regardless of their location, reducing the gap between large and small clinics.
Patients will benefit from higher-quality dental care through more accurate diagnoses and fewer clinical errors, as well as increased access to treatments using advanced technologies, thanks to the platform’s availability for all professionals. Additionally, using blockchain technology to ensure data security will increase patients’ trust in the handling of their personal and medical information.
The proposed solution has the potential to significantly transform dental practice, providing dentists with an advanced tool to improve diagnostic accuracy and clinical data management. The integration of technologies such as generative AI and blockchain will not only enhance the quality of dental care but also ensure that processes are transparent and reliable. By providing equitable access to these advanced technologies, the platform will contribute to overall public health improvement and patients’ quality of life.
