The first day of the congress (November 11th) will be dedicated to the Global Blockchain Challenge, an open innovation initiative to brings together developers, regulators and business people to address several challenges and deliver a solution based on the benefits of blockchain technologies within the framework of each of the 17 Sustainable Development Objectives (SDGs).

The Global Blockchain Challange objective is to be able to offer an innovative solution/initiative within the framework of each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each solution will be created from a multi-disciplinary vision with to hack at three levels: business, technical and legal to boost and to show feasibility to launch of initiatives that using DLT/Blockchain. The competition will run 8 hours in the Trade Fair and Congress Center of Malaga.

The first day of the congress (November 11th) will be dedicated to the Global Blockchain Challenge, an open innovation initiative to brings together developers, regulators and business people to address several challenges and deliver a solution based on the benefits of blockchain technologies within the framework of each of the 17 Sustainable Development Objectives (SDGs).

Every team will be formed by three participants, with different skills from different sectors (start-up, companies & academic).

We will have…

  • At least 17 teams to solve challenges corresponding to the 17 SDGs.
  • 17 members of technology parks integrated in APTE and the IASP will be part of the participating teams.
  • Members of the European Union Parliament will be invited as mentors of the participating teams, and they will also be members of the Award jury.

A specialised jury will choose the winning team for each of the categories.

  • The best start-up based on Blockchain.
  • The best blockchain-based scaling.
  • Special Prize for the best public initiative to promote in its territory the development of startups that use blockchain technology to solve the challenges framed in the 17 SDGs.

The winners will be recognised with the StartUp Europe-World Blockchain Awards on the evening of 11 November at a VIP Dinner. The winners will obtain an European acceleration ticket valued at 10,000 euros that will allow them to participate in the calls of the European Union – H2020 (up to 3M grant per project), visit Brussels, learn about the functioning of the European Parliament and, as a company, how to participate directly in the community legal framework, as well as in the networking agenda and access to European investors.

The first teams will be made up of at least one person proposed by the sponsors. To widen the Challenge, an Open Call will be launched one month earlier, on October 11th, to complete the teams.

Companies have an excellent opportunity to sponsor a team in this open innovation initiative that will have an important impact in the following days of the congress.
